| Twin Drum Casting Process for Stainless Steel Strip |
To confirm the possibilities of process in industrial scale, after small scale casting tests, experiments have been jointly carried out by Nippon Steel Corp. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Using the 800 width twin drum caster of one ton capacity for stainless steel strips. On the basis of the results obtained in this work, metallurgical factors for controlling the surface quality and profile of the cast strips were mainly discussed. Some of the stainless steel (9Cr--18Ni) strips produced were also cold rolled and then compared with standard strips.
